It's a simple matter for me to loosen or tighten my CH yoke mounting knobs with the keyboard slid in. I'd have to put the keyboard on top of the yoke and that would interfere with seeing the monitor. I have my keyboard on a sliding drawer under the desk and the mounting would interfere with this.

Fry's has both a Saitek yoke and pedals on sale this week with free shipping. I've had good luck with both Saitek and CH products so I have no brand preference. I tried to look into it and how it incorporates rudder control is still a mystery to me. To address your main concern I have no personal knowledge of the Eclipse. Lot of things to consider in this thread.

I have seen on YouTube where people do mods to improve the feel of the CH so if you got that way you might want to search for mods. The CH needs more muscle and while I did find it allowed for smoother control inputs I felt that it was less realistic (though I'm not a RW pilot). I also prefer the lighter touch for controlling with the Saitek.

I added an extra 3-lever Saitek TQ (total of 6 levers for twin engine flying) and Logitech Attack3 joystick plus TrackIR5 and I have everything I need to set up any aircraft control config I want, and then tie it all together using FSUIPC and a handful of different control profiles. If you want to fly twin or 4 engine airplanes the Eclipse levers are pretty useless and you need a separate TQ anyway. The Yoke is flat on top making it convenient to place your keyboard on top of the yoke for easy access. Saitek seems to be more targeted to aviation and the Yoke and TQ positioning of the levers and button are more analogous to where they are in most airplanes. The lever travel is short as mentioned above so if you want to program detents or reverse thrust it's very limiting, and also having the levers way up on the back of the yoke is weird. The Eclipse tries to be fungible to both auto sims and airplanes and the result is it's neither fish nor fowl. For helis, pedals are a must in my opinion.įor the yoke, I've had both CH Eclipse and Saitek Pro and I prefer the Saitek.

With pedals you also have toe brakes which allows for smooth braking and you can also use differential braking which is very useful for some aircraft. If you have a hardwood floor I recommend getting a heavy rubber door mat, it will grip the pedals and keep them from sliding on the floor. Is it a one-stop shopping item or is it used with a separate throttle-quadrant and / or rudder as the CH Flight Sim Yoke item?ĬH Pedals are good, I've been using mine for years.

Were I to get her the rig I use it would require her to set up and dis-assemble the 3 pieces each time she is on her flight simulator but it looks like the Eclipse Yoke is a 'one-and-done' set up.ĭo any of you have any actual experience with the Eclipse Yoke? By the way, I have used CH Products for years with no major annoyances and I am from the "if ain't broke don't fix it" school, so I am not even considering another manufacturer. I was originally going to get her the CH Products 3-piece Flight Sim Yoke, Rudders and Throttle Quadrant set, which I use, but I notice the other night CH has a product called the "Eclipse Yoke," which seems to have everything (yoke / rudders / throttle quadrant) built in. She presently uses a Thrustmaster joystick for her FS2004 & FSX, which are installed on the sole family desktop computer for her practicing, so whatever I get her will have to be something she can dis-assemble when she is not on flight simulator. She wants to be an airline pilot and is biting at the bit as she waits for flight school lessons. Hello, As a transition (aka, graduation) present from elementary to high school I want to gift, with her parents' already received approval, a flight simulator controller set up to an enthusiastic 13 year old young eagle who eats and sleeps aviation.
